Is it a Blog?

Hello there!

Hi!

My name is Francisca, I'm a Lisbon-based photographer and videographer.

In times when everyone is sharing everything and always showing the best side of their lives, I want to try and go in a different direction.

Maybe it’s a blog, maybe it’s a portfolio, maybe it’s just a maybe.

Since I started taking pictures and shooting videos, I'm always thinking about the next step. What do I really love to shoot? What inspires me? How can I translate that into work?

This brings me to Instagram. I was skeptical about this app the first time I used it and I didn’t really take it seriously. But then, it actually helped me to share my first photos. It was an easy way to create a portfolio online, a place where the clients could easily access, like, and hire your work. For the following years, Instagram would be (and still is) a big tool in my work.

But now, like everything that becomes very popular, it feels like it has lost its purpose, and all of the sudden, something that inspired me in the past, became a bit annoying and overwhelming, and not in a good way.

That brings us here. In April this year, while traveling through Japan, I decided to share some stories, and many people started asking about the trip and telling me it made them curious about the places I was visiting. As someone who loves to travel, it's always a nice feeling to know that someone felt inspired enough to book a flight based on what I shared.

But because Instagram is so "pretty" and it's all about sharing the pretty (too pretty to be true) side of things, I wanted a place where I could share everything else. The good and the bad of planning a trip, the challenges of being an anxious person traveling around the world.

It's not all pretty, it's definitely not perfect, but it's one of the best feelings in the world. To have those memories, to know people from all around the world, to learn more about other cultures, and to challenge yourself to get out of your comfort zone.

So here we are. Or, more precisely, here I am.
